How Can A Business Coach Help?

As a business coach I would offer you a guideline for writing a business plan.

The following are guidelines for writing a business plan:

Defining Your Business Plan

"When you create a formal business plan, you should include a number of things in your discussion of the business, its objectives, and its offerings. Specifically, your plan should include the following basic elements:

  • An executive summary or overview of the business, its market, its objectives, and its legal structure.
  • A detailed description of the business, including a discussion of the products or services you're offering and an analysis of the industry.
  • A discussion of the expected market for your products or services.
  • Your game plan or marketing strategy, describing how you plan to penetrate the market and the types of sales efforts you'll use.
  • Operating plans describing your management team and the structure, plans for growing the business, and ways you intend to manage change.
  • A discussion of your company's current and expected future financial position - how much cash you have now, where you'll get more cash when needed, and what earnings you anticipate."

I would help you to assess where your business problems are by asking you the following questions:

BUSINESS COACHING QUESTIONS

  1. What business results are you expecting (revenue, profit, budget, market share)? Bottom-line goals—why the organization exists.
  2. How does the work get accomplished from input to throughout to output (timeframes for projects, quality level of service, quantity of customers)? Work process goals.
  3. What team behaviors are needing to be different to accomplish these results (clarifying decision making process and alignment of roles; conflict management practices)? Human relations goals.
  4. Can you describe what personal leadership challenges you’re facing in improving these results and team behaviors?
  5. What specific behaviors does the leader need to enhance or to change in him/herself to achieve the results and team behaviors?
  6. What differentiates your company from the competition?
  7. What are your marketing strategies to build your business?
